Join us on Friday, September 13th, 2024, for an exciting Heritage Open Day at the historic Slaughterhouse in Royal Clarence Yard, Gosport. We’re thrilled to invite you to discover our vision for this remarkable space, as we conserve and revitalize it for future generations. Our aim is to transform the Slaughterhouse into a vibrant hub for artisans, artists, and performers, blending history with creativity in a unique and inspiring setting.
What to Expect at the Event
This open day is your chance to explore the Slaughterhouse, learn about our plans, and share your thoughts and ideas. The event will feature a range of exciting activities:
Exhibitions: Immerse yourself in the local culture with exhibitions like the "Alleyways of Gosport," which brings the hidden corners of our town to life, and "Spatial Fragments," a unique art display inspired by the historic dockyard. Plus, don't miss the debut of a brand-new site-specific installation by immersive artist Thomas Buckley.
Creative Workshops: Try your hand at screen printing with our resident expert, Spencer. Create your own unique print to take home and learn the art of screen printing from one of the best.
Co-Creation Opportunities: We’ll be sharing our initial plans for the Slaughterhouse project and inviting you to contribute your ideas. Your input is invaluable in helping us shape the future of this historic site.
Demonstrations: Experience the creativity and craftsmanship of local youth charity Plan B as they extend their Victorious Festival activities to the Slaughterhouse. Watch music sessions and drumstick-making demonstrations that highlight the power of arts in community engagement.
