Time & Location
10 Feb 2025, 13:00 – 17:00
Portsmouth Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth PO1 2AB, UK
About the event
Past Makes Future is an experimental micro-conference exploring the opportunities and potential interventions between heritage organizations, artists and emerging technology leaders within Portsmouth and nationally. The conference has three main aims -
-To create collaborative opportunities for experimentation and creation
-To radically enable the arts to inspire empathy
-To exhibit new creative works that stoke critical discourse
For 2025 PAST MAKES FUTURE will look internationally for inspiring leaders and artists across the world. Explore how technology is gamifying rural communities and look at how practices can combine to create exciting new projects. The conference will respond to 2024’s conference report and explore how this new sector of arts / technology / heritage can be a force for social change and platform projects that aim to combat unhealthy digital practices.
The full programme for the day will be released in the coming weeks, but expect a new sensory moment designed by Society of Cocktails. Exclusive opportunities for international residencies for conference attendees and opportunities to influence the local Heritage / Arts /Technology scene in Portsmouth.
