A one day intensive workshop taking place in and around the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Includes drawing with a variety of media followed by interpretation into mixed media print.

The aim of the day is to create a group of mixed media works on paper using the location around you to fuel and inspire ideas. The aim of the first part of the day is to sharpen up and develop your looking skills. To hone in on surfaces and small details as well as the more expansive viewpoint of the Dockyard and its surrounding buildings. The emphasis will be on ‘loose’ suggestive markmaking. Following an intensive drawing session we will make some small collagraph plates taking inspiration from your drawings. The afternoon will focus on producing small prints from the collagraph plates and further development with monoprint. Using the Heritage spaces around us we will create both conventional and unconvential mixed media drawings that could then be further developed into more resolved work.
Once you have booked your place you will be sent further details about the day and the location - eg; parking advice and getting food on the day. The location has a cafe and restaurant close by as well as small inexpensive takeaway places, just outside the Dockyard. Entry is free. You will be encouraged to arrive between 10am and 10.15pm.
