'Alleyways of Gosport'
achieves ACE funding

In collaboration with Ankle Deep and generously funded by a grant from Arts Council England (ACE), throughout August and September 2023 SCT will be holding a series of events celebrating Gosport High Street's unique and historic alleyways. Throughout the project, we will combine our research on the history of the alleyways with the input of local students, creators, organisations and residents to select four alleyways to be 'animated'.
Through participation in a series of free, artist-led mixed-media workshops, the local community will have an opportunity to directly inform the creative development of each alleyway, producing unique installations designed and built directly by the participants and our team. We intend this to be a stepping stone towards redefining Gosport town centre as a community space, encouraging the future involvement of local people in celebrating the High Street, and developing a distinct identity for its alleyways.

Join our three remaining free workshops:
TILE MAKING: 27th AUGUST
ACCESSIBLE STREET & TECH: 10th SEPTEMBER
SECRETS OF STORYTELLING: 24th SEPTEMBER

All workshops are designed to be family-friendly 'brainstorming' sessions, where participants can explore and celebrate the history of Gosport and its alleyways. We hold a strong commitment to sustainability, advocating for the reuse of surplus materials to create place-based products. If you have any materials that could be reinvented or reused, we encourage you to bring them along. However, rest assured, all necessary materials will be provided at the workshop.

Join us on this creative journey to illuminate the rich tapestry of Gosport's history and its alleyways. Your participation is what makes this initiative special.
